Marshall, Texas – May 31, 2024 – This summer, Marshall-Harrison County Health District is partnering with It’s Time Texas to bring the Sweet Summer Habits program to Harrison County. The ten-week program kicks off Monday, June 3, and will feature lessons and activities that can be done at home to explore and implement healthy habits this summer. According to Amelia Carnagey, It’s Time Texas Director of Marketing, Sweet Summer Habits is designed, “as an engaging initiative to inspire kids and families to prioritize health throughout the summer.”

Marshall-Harrison County Health District will have participant workbooks on hand that can be picked up during normal clinic hours. Participant workbooks include engaging guides designed to help families set and achieve health goals. Each week a new lesson will be featured on the Marshall-Harrison County Health District’s website. The program features two phases including Phase 1 (Exploring Healthy Habits) and Phase 2 (Implementing Healthy Habits). Participants will have access to other free resources offered by It’s Time Texas including virtual fitness and nutrition classes.

Week 1 – Kids in the Kitchen

Week 2 – Hydration & Mindful Eating

Week 3 – Get Active

Week 4 – Balanced Nutrition

Week 5 – Social Support & Community

Week 6 – Mindfulness & Well-being

Week 7 – Sleep Hygiene

Week 8 – Igniting the Olympic Spirit

Weeks 9 & 10 – Implementing Healthy Habits

Those interested in having their children participate in Sweet Summer Habits can stop by the Marshall-Harrison County Health District, 805 Lindsey Drive, to pick up a participant workbook and follow along at mhchd.org for weekly updates this summer. There is no charge to participate in the program.
