The Marshall-Harrison County Health District is set to host its third annual “Say Boo to the Flu” event Thursday, October 26, 2023. The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 805 Lindsey Drive and will feature free flu vaccines for children ages six months to eighteen years old who qualify under the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) Program.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone ages six months and older take a flu vaccine each year. According to Jennifer Hancock, Executive Director, children can receive their flu vaccine during normal office hours of the Marshall-Harrison County Health District or by attending the “Say Boo to the Flu” event. “We host this event annually to create a fun environment and to ease the fear children may have around getting vaccines,” explains Hancock.
Along with free flu vaccines, children in attendance will receive a goodie bag and will have the opportunity for face painting. “We will have a photo booth for anyone who wants to get a cute picture of their kids,” states Hancock.
Although the Marshall-Harrison County Health District is only able to provide vaccines at no charge for children who qualify through the TVFC program, any child who has already received their flu vaccine this year is encouraged to stop by with proof of vaccination for face painting and a goodie bag.
