Marshall-Harrison County Health District is set to host its fourth annual “Say Boo to the Flu” event Thursday, October 17, 2024. The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 805 Lindsey Drive and will feature free flu vaccines for children ages six months to eighteen years old who qualify through the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) Program.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone ages six months and older take a flu vaccine each year. According to Jennifer Hancock, Executive Director, Marshall-Harrison County Health District has flu vaccines for children in stock and available now. “We are already giving flu vaccines through the Texas Vaccines for Children program during our normal clinic hours,” states Hancock. “Our Say Boo to the Flu event helps us create a fun environment to help ease the fear children may have about getting vaccines.”
Children in attendance will receive a treat bag and will have the opportunity for face painting.
Although the Marshall-Harrison County Health District is only able to provide vaccines at no charge for children who qualify through the TVFC program, any child who has already received their flu vaccine this year is encouraged to stop by with proof of vaccination for face painting and a treat bag.
For more information about recommended vaccines for both adults and children, please contact your provider’s office, visit mhchd.org, or call the Marshall-Harrison County Health District at (903) 938-8338.
